Daiwa Zillion
The Daiwa Zillion baitcasting reels offer amazing performance and with with a gear ratio of up to 7:1:1 also include the fastest baitcasting reel around (look out the the Zillion 50th anniversary special edition).
The Zillions once again clearly show Daiwa are capable of putting together a reel that feels rock solid, and performs in the exact same manner. The Zillion range is also fitted with the excellent Magforce-Z which is Daiwa's anti-backlash control and it works very well. It basically means you get long, precise casts which almost no worry about backlash.
They are nice reels to palm although are heavier than some of the other baitcasters around, but this is purely down to build quality and strength which shines through when you use it. It all comes together with a long cranking handle which is smooth and helps to bring out the most in the speed the reel has to offer while the micro-click adjustable cast control knob and drag star are unexpected, but excellent, surprises.
Casting and retrieving are where you really notice the difference from other reels though. The reel is so quick and almost effortless that you will have your line back in no time. It may be a little too fast and powerful for the lightest of baits although we didnt really have any problems with it. The hyper zillion comes with a whopping 11 corrosion resistant bearings where as the other zillions are fitted with an impressive eight.
This reel has earnt its name thanks to its solid construction and amazing speed. Although it's a touch more expensive than some of the other reels available, it right at the top in terms of features, performance and durability so is well worth the asking price. The magforce-Z cast control takes a little while to get used too, but it will be a welcome feature for veteran and novice baitcasters alike.
