Pflueger President
The Pflueger President baitcast reel has a bit of a cult following and it is easy to understand why. Unbelievably smooth and almost no backlash go a long way to giving anyone a pleasant experience of using this baitcaster.
It comes with a whopping 9 double shielded bearings which is no wonder why its so smooth to use. Casting is highly impressive and with almost any lures you can get some amazing distances from this reel. The pflueger president brake adjustments are easy to do by removing the sideplate and can be done on the fly.
The shape of the President reel is a little odd but like the Asaro is highly ergonomic. It is ideally suited to palming and the opening of the spool will easily accomodate your thumb. The reel is all metal with a solid one piece aluminium frame and due to the number of bearings pretty much looks after itself.
The drag on the reel is also excellent and features a multi disc carbon fiber system that works incredibly well. I understand from a friend that the earliest models of the President were a little flakey in this department but it looks like this has been ironed out in recent years and it all comes together nicely.
The Pflueger President reel is great value for money and its easy to see why it has built up an army of followers. The rich feature list should have it pitched as a flagship pflueger reel but due to affordability this must be one of the best value reels and comes highly recommended.
